Each year, SlowExposures presents a special exhibition in the Barn at Split Oak Farm. Located off Chapman Road just east of Zebulon, the Barn provides a unique experience in the beautiful pastoral setting beside a pasture with horses.

Being in Place
Writer Janisse Ray is joining SlowExposures at the barn this year to explore the theme of place. Ray believes that engagement with places—a more powerful alignment with a person’s actual place on earth—can help us find deeper meaning in our lives, strengthen the fabric of life around us, and build a network of support that is sometimes nonhuman. In this exhibition, 11 photographers will present work about knowing or finding place. This can mean photos that locate the point where one’s heart intersects with one’s landscape or photos that tell the story of a place: What happened here?
