2021 Young Photographers Show
What's on your phone?
To photographers under the age of 18 (and their supporters!): We are really curious to see how you see the rural South. Our annual photography show, SlowExposures has asked this question for 18 years--even before cell phones! We invite you to pick out two photographs that capture your take on the rural South, whether you live here or you've visited.
Our judges for 2021 are Dr. Dan Dunnahoo and Dr. Karen Lacey of Pike County, GA. They will pick photos for three divisions: K-5, 6-8, and 9-12th grades. The selected photos will be exhibited during SlowExposures, September 17-19th in Pike County. The judges will award first, second, and third places in each grade category as well as a "Best in Show". We'll hold a reception for the photographers and families on Sunday, September 19th. Every year, we think it's a fitting conclusion to honor these photographers of the future!
Students should enter the division in which they are enrolled in January, 2021. The juried in images will be printed and matted by the Young Photographers Committee. We'll let everyone know what images were chosen by mid-June--picked or not, we want everyone to come and be a part of the SlowExposures experience.
The deadline is Sunday, May 23, 2021 at midnight.
And, if you know of a young photographer, we invite you to play a role in encouraging their dreams and aspirations!
