This Friday night National Geographic photographer, Peter Essick, speaks on the challenging environmental issues of our time. You will hear about his experiences and see photos he took to convey the impact of events on our environment. After the presentation, have dinner with Essick and discuss photography with other Serenbe Photography Center photographers.
On Saturday, Essick takes you on a full-day assignment to prime locations along the endangered Flint River. Beginning in Thomaston you will have the chance to photograph the place where palmettos, Spanish moss, and rare spider lilies meet mountain laurel and azalea — illustrating the transition from piedmont to coastal plain. You will also photograph a farm that will be impacted by the proposed dam on the river.
