The 12th annual SlowExposures has just opened our 2014 Call for Entries! We welcome this year’s distinguished jurors: Alexa Dilworth of the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University and Aline Smithson, founder of Lenscratch blogzine. Photographers are invited to submit up to six (6) images that convey their interpretation of the contemporary rural South.
This year’s show is September 19-21 and 26-28. We’ve planned an astonishing line-up of satellite shows, pop-up galleries, seminars, and social events, all taking place in National Register historic buildings in Pike County, Georgia. It’s a one-hour drive from downtown Atlanta where the rural setting offers an opportunity for photographers to learn, to network, and to enjoy a singular experience with their peers, photography professionals and fans. Every photographer who enters will be invited to attend our private Friday Evening Soiree on September 19th. “J.A.M.” (Jurors and Artists Mingling) returns following the Jurors Talk on Sunday, September 21. This year, juried in artists will have an opportunity to showcase their books and photography-related items at our “show store”.
Over $1,000 in awards will be made. The Paul Conlan Prize is awarded to the first place image and includes $500 and an invitation to hang a solo show in 2015. Second and Third place cash awards and ribbons will be awarded by the Jurors in addition to Honorable Mention ribbons. A “People’s Choice” award will be determined the last day of the show. The committee makes every effort to assist participating photographers with lodging and transportation while they visit.
Entry information can be accessed by visiting our Call For Entries page.
